ANA STILWELL

A new Portuguese artist is born! Ana Stilwell’s wit, lyricism, and empathy are shared along a collection of 11 songs. Her debut album, Take my Coat is an affair between mellow acoustic pop, folk and country overtones.

Produced by Blim Records, Take My Coat is due to be released in the beginning of  2013, but you can already listen the lead single Dibba Dee Doo here.

In July 3rd 1986 Ana Stilwell was born.

Daughter of a famous portuguese journalist, who has forwarded the taste for writing, Ana was also very influenced by her father - whom she describes as a music lover.

She grew-up in Lisbon, studied in St. Dominics International School and at the age of fifteen, Ana picked up her first guitar and taught herself to play.

In 2004, after briefly attending an unfinished course of Journalism, she went to England to study Singing and Music in the prestigious Arts Educational School of London.

After three months, Ana Stilwell returned to Portugal and enrolled at Hot Clube – the famous Jazz School founded by Luís Villas Boas, where she studied for three years.

During 2009, Ana Stilwell wrote original songs (only for voice and guitar), recorded at her house and posted them on Youtube - mainly meant for her sister as a gift.

By December of that same year, Ana had a life-changing event when she received a call from her current record label, Blim Records, – probably the dream of most singer-songwriters – telling her that they loved the songs that they have heard on the internet.

It was the beginning of a new journey.

Presently, Ana is married, mother of two twin girls and she’s finishing a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Before she was a singer-songwriter, Ana also released two books with her mother, “247.57€ de Telefone” e “É Meia Noite, Chove e Ela Não Está em Casa”.
